So partner of 8 months suddenly flares up with warts, we were careful (condoms) and slept together only twice I havent got symptoms as of yet but i read it can be dormant for years I think thats what happened with him… anywhoo can they test for warts on me and get a solid result?
Past std checks have all been clear.
Sorry I forgot to mention I’m getting std checked tomoro but I’m worried and wasnt sure if they will pick up a hpv virus should i have one, so thought I’d get a quicker answer here if its possible to detect without symptoms.

"Getting tested: There is no general test for HPV. There is a DNA test called the Hybrid Capture II (HCII) that can detect the types of HPV that are linked with cervical cancer. (Source: Canadian Women’s Health Network)

The "Pap smear" test should be done at intervals recommended by your doctor. Note that the strains that cause warts do not cause cancer but it’s possible to have more than one strain. Also, the DNA test is not always accurate so regular checks are vital where cervical cancer is concerned.
I think so. You should get a pap smear because genital warts are caused by the hpv virus. There are two groups of hpv, one is the low risk hpv and the other is high risk hpv. Low and high risk is used to indicate occurence of cervical cancer. I would definitely go get a pap test done because of the other issues (cancer) that can arise from being infected with genital warts.
