My boyfriend has a lump at the base of his penis behind the scrotum. It is large – about the size of a large grape. It is red and looked like it had a head. He squeezed it and a bunch of puss came out. Could it be an abcess or staph infection? It’s tender to the touch, but otherwise not painful or bothersome. And he has absolutely no other symptoms. Any suggestions as to what this could be?

You’re right, it could be either one of those (or even something worse).
Either way, that is not an area to be fooling around with (so to speak) and he really should get to a doctor.

I had a staph infection on my leg once, that sounds like what it is. It might be embarassing, but have him go to a doctor so they can drain it and get him some antibiotics.
