yes it most definately sounds like it is the same issue. grab up some anti fungal cream from the chemist to sooth it. then head to the doctor to have a 2nd check. least that way you know what to recognise in the future. what ever you do. while you have anything abnrmal at all hanging around there.. DO NOT HAVE ANY KIND OF SEX.
